2K and Turtle Rock Studios, creators of Left 4 Dead, have released a few new screenshots for Evolve, their upcoming multiplayer shooter.

Evolve aims to blend cooperative and competitive multiplayer experiences as it pits players against each other as team of four hunters face off against a singular, player-controlled monster. Set on an alien planet in a very futuristic distant future, gamers hunt their prey in adrenaline-pumping 4V1 matches.

The 4 players experience Evolve as a first-person shooter when playing cooperatively as the four hunters, while the 5th person controls the monster in the third-person perspective, providing a gameplay experience unique to Evolve.

My Pax Experience is definitely left at a short hand. After my Friday experience of attempting to play the hands on demo and having a line wait of FOUR hours….I decided to try again Saturday morning. I woke up at 7 and was at the Boston Convention Center hours early. I was one of the first groups in one of the first lines. As soon as they opened the floodgates it was as if all these nerds magically turned into Olympic runners….set in a Grand Theft Auto universe…

Where were they all heading? Evolve.

I scampered my way to the line (having just opened)….already at capacity. Deciding it was not worth it to sit and wait I can only comment as to the footage and not the functionality of it’s controls or how fluid it may be. They allowed players to play one match against a monster. You waited in one of 5 separate lines for each class including monster and 2K just let you have at it.

I am excited for this game. Clearly everyone else is too. It’s creative, new, exciting, and starts to give us hope that there are people out there really looking at the future of gaming. Here are some of the new screenshots below:
