It’s been almost thirty years since the Goonies came out and there’s been a lot of rumors of a sequel over the year. This is one of those movies (along with Ghostbusters 3 and Evil Dead 4) that I’ll believe when I see.

However, Variety is reporting that Richard Donner is onboard for a sequel! When asked the question of whether he would be directing a superhero movie, he replied with:

If you call ‘Goonies’ a comic book. We’re doing a sequel.

The original cast is expected to return although we don’t know whether they’ll be staring in it or just play the parents to an all new generation of Goonies.

Will this actually get off the ground? I don’t know– what I DO know is that Goonies never say die.
