In a move that leaves me baffled, Bill Lawrence has just gotten the go ahead from NBC Networks to remake acclaimed British comedy The IT Crowd for American audiences. For the second time.
NBC actually previously took a stab at an U.S. version of The IT Crowd. It was developed during the 2006-07 season and was picked up to series for midseason but never aired. It starred Joel McHale. But thankfully, it didn’t work out, and we ended up getting Community instead.
I honestly wish American networks would acquire rights to the shows they think their audiences won’t understand, and let the numbers speak for themselves. I’ll just go watch more of HBO’s (awesome) Silicon Valley.
