A tv series reboot of “I Know What You Did Last Summer” is headed straight for Amazon Studios, with Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty.

Deadline reports that Mortiz has re-upped his existing deal with Amazon Studios for an additional three years for Sony Pictures Television and Original Film. Shetty will remain Head of TV for Original, and the pair will also continue to foster and develop new content.

One of these new shows just happens to be the YA horror film franchise which kicked off with 1997’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” which was produced by Mortiz.

According to Deadline, James Wan will be directing the pilot of the series from a script by Shay Hatten.  The company’s current development slate includes I Know What You Did Last Summer at Amazon, a YA horror series based on the Moritz-produced hit movie franchise, with James Wan attached to direct and Shay Hatten writing; and The Wanted at FX, “America’s most epic true crime story,” written by Shawn Ryan based on the upcoming novel by journalist John Tayman, which tells the history of the FBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted Program.

SPT President Jeff Frost commented:

“We are elated to be continuing our partnership with Neal and Pavun. They are among the most esteemed and prolific producers in all of television and we have enjoyed much success together. Their taste and producing acumen is beyond compare and we look forward to continued mutual prosperity together.”

Moritz sounds pretty excited about the news:

“At this point in my career, the most important thing to me is to be able to work with partners who give me true creative freedom and incredible financial support so that I can make great television. I’m thrilled to be extending our relationship with Mike (Hopkins), Jeff, Chris (Parnell), Jason (Clodfelter) and their team at Sony.”

We’ll let you know what else we hear about the series; casting, timeline, etc.
