In an attempt to compete with the ever-triumphant animated DC universe and their successful offerings like that of The Dark Knight Returns, Marvel animation is beefing up their 2013 resume. Jeph Loeb, head of the Marvel animation department, had this to say:
“We welcome people to interpret any way they like, in tone and character, we want to follow our best leader. It’s our hope that we will start doing more feature-length direct to Blu-ray and DVD stories. They’ll more than likely be in team-up situations. We find it works really well when we have big exciting adventures with two or more of our heroes.”

Raising the caliber, spring 2013’s Iron Man Rise of Technovore is playing off their successful Iron Man anime series with pristine aesthetics. It’s to feature the titular hero alongside multiple Marvel mainstays like that of Black Widow, War Machine, Hawkeye, and Punisher, to be plagued by the antagonistic Ezekiel Stane. Also hitting from Marvel animation, Heroes United (available April 23, 2013) tosses Iron Man and Hulk against the electrifying Zzzax in Pixar-esque CG-animation.
