Long rumored and steadily shadowed by planted hints throughout the franchise, the much awaited archenemy to Tony Stark and head (not to mention wearer) of the Ten Rings has finally been unveiled. Meet Sir Ben Kingsley as the very Hogwarts headmaster-like Mandarin set to be tarnished by the invincible Iron Man in next summers Marvel comic threequel. Some four years before Iron Man was given his own solo title, the one-time borderline offensive foe first appeared in 1964’s Tales of Suspense #50 and ever onward ingrained himself as one of the premiere threats to the Marvel universe. Wielding his specialty-bling with powers including an array of abilities ranging from elemental blasts of heat and cold to an overwhelming vortex blast…that’s not to mention seven other individual assets…he’d give a Green Lantern a run for their money. Whether the film will retain the intergalactic dragon origins to his jewelry or re-imagine them with a more grounded technological reinterpretation is yet to be revealed, but he’s sure to put more rust on ‘ole shellhead than ever before.
