As more and more shoots onto the interwebs about Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it would seem to be becoming a practical smorgasbord of Spidey villains. Between Jamie Foxx’s Electro, the supposed Paul Giamatti foe, and Colm Feore – HERE – as another mysterious role…could we be going the way of Spider-Man 3′s over-saturation? Regardless of opinion, there’s yet another baddie being thrown into the bunch. Actor Chris Cooper has officially been cast – HERE – as the Oscorp Industrialist turned dastardly devil Norman Osborn. Considering all the references to the character in the original reboot as well as Dane DeHaan as the role of his son, Harry Osborn, Normie’s inclusion was predominately expected. Re-imagining the almost more menacing out-of-costume Willem DaFoe of the original Spider-Man, it’s pretty safe to say this go-around will steer clear of a pseudo-Power Ranger costume. Yet it’s unknown as to how much of a part the infamous archenemy will play, nor is it know if he will actually dawn the purple booties and glider to become his infamous Green Goblin alter-ego quite yet. Could this be the first of the final steps of Gwen Stacy, Gobbie’s inclusion almost undeniably leading to the Brooklyn Bridge romance tragedy seen in Amazing Spider-Man #121-122. Emma Stone seems to hope so – HERE
