From the first moment the nation saw the trailer to Jem and The Holograms all it did was insight worry. The biggest fear/issue everyone had was that they basically took away everything that made Jem Truly Truly Outrageous and replaced it with a standard popcorn flick. The story, the feel and key elements were altered so much you were left with nothing more than a hollow shell of its original existence.
Universal saw how poorly it was doing and decided that after two weeks it would pull the movie from theaters. This is no surprise but that is Hollywood for you. They always think they know what people want. If you expected to get a “new audience” why not try making the film about something that parents would related to such that they would want to bring their kids too see? I don’t know, just food for thought.
If you want to watch something worth watching try this parody video instead. It shows Jem and the Holograms in their later years, after all the drugs sex and rock and roll.
Or at least try something to wash the pain of this film away with a Secret of the Booze specialty drink!
