Marvel’s Box Office Buster Guardians of the Galaxy did a lot better than expected, bringing in 94.3 million dollars taking first place in this weekends box office poles. The film starring Chris Pratt as the infamous Peter Quill aka Star-Lord was jammed pack with loads of fun and action packed scenes from beginning to end. It had everything from thrilling suspense to heartbreaking drama and absolutely hilarious moments. Besides being packed with all of that, you know what else it was filled with? Marvel Easter Eggs!
Though the video got some of the great ones he is still missing a lot. James Gunn laced the whole movie with all kinds of Easter Eggs to find.
Here are some of the ones that he missed:
1: 12% joke
In The Avengers When Tony Stark tells Pepper Potts to give herself “…12% of the credit” for creating Stark Tower. Pepper is not amused (and no doubt insulted, I mean come on! Tony would crash with out her! ) by the absurdly low number, and later throws the number back at Tony saying that she was “having 12% of a moment”. James Gunn featured a throwback to Joss Whedon’s 12% joke in Guardians of the Galaxy. When Star-Lord announces his plan to the rest of the team in preparation for the third act battle, Rocket Raccon (Bradley Cooper) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana) try to explains that 12% isn’t a plan is “barely a concept.”
2: Joss Whedon had some involvement in the writing process for Guardians of the Galaxy but not a whole lot – James Gunn worked with him to mold the script. Everyone loved Gunn’s original script… except for Whedon, who said he liked it but that it was too conventional and “it needed more James Gunn.” So Gunn took another pass and really went for it. He definitely NAILED IT!
3: The dancing baby Groot at the end of the movie is totally James Gunn. He said that though it wasn’t credited that was all him doing the dancing!
“Little spoiler for the audience, that tree dancing is me. I’m not motion-captured, but I’m motion-referenced and that is 100% me dancing… Honestly, that [scene] was supposed to be either mid-credits or end-credits, but when we showed it to the test audience, they loved it so much! We were like ‘We don’t want people walking out and missing this this,’ so we put it right there after the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Will Return’ thing.” – James Gunn
4: Glenn Close who also played Cruella Deville in Disney’s 101 Dalmatians was the Nova Prime is leader of the intergalactic law-enforcement agency NOVA Corp.
5: Quill also called Groot “The Giving Tree” from Shel Silversteins 1964 book titled ” The Giving Tree “.
6: Laura Haddock who plays Peter Quill’s mother Meredith Quill Also was the autograph girl in the first Captain America: The First Avenger.
If the time period wasn’t so off you could have thought Meredith Quill might have met good Ole Captain America. You never know, she did have that year lol fling with Peters father J’son who is a Emperor StarLord. ( Hopefully we see his father in the next Guardians Of The Galaxy)
7: Sakaaran replace the Badoon race because unfortunately 20th century Fox owns the rights to them. What was not told in the film is the Badoons was the aliens that killed Peter Quill’s mother.
8: The Planet of Morag
After the opening of the film, we see the now grown up Star-Lord on the planet of Morag. Peter Quill has landed on what appeared to be deserted wasteland planet in hopes of stealing a treasure hidden inside the temple ruins, lost for many centuries (definitely Indiana Jones inspired moment) . The planet doesn’t appear in the Marvel comics but the name Morag is a tribute to the first leader of the Kree.
9: The Infinity Gauntlet has already appeared on screen in a Marvel Studios film, however very briefly. The infamous glove could be seen in the background of Odin’s treasure room during the attack by Frost Giants in Thor.
10: A holographic image of the the Tessersact can be seen when the Collector is giving Peter Quill and Gamora his lesson on the history of the Infinity Stones, along with the Aether (which is in the museum somewhere).
12: I Was Also Told That When the DVD / Blue ray of the Guardians of the Galaxy comes out to freeze frame or pause on the different parts of the scene with the Collector. There are a ton more too be found through out the film! Makes me want to go see it again to see what I missed.

Great Article!!!!
Alf was in the collectors collection when they walk into the collectors place
Holy crap! I feel like I need to go back and watch it again just to see that.
Rocket makes a snide remark about Quill’s “purse” is an intentional Bradley Cooper reference to a line from “The Hangover”.
Which was hilarious! I loved their bantering!
