Arguably one of the most influential young adult fantasy series aside from Tolkien’s Hobbit/Lord Of The Rings, C. S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia, and J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter, the 22 novels written by Irish-American Anne McCaffrey have just been optioned by Warner Brothers, Deadline reports.

The first of McCaffrey’s Pern stories, “Weyr Search”, was published in 1967.  There are 22 in the series, and Anne’s son Todd co-authored with his mother many of the later books, starting with Dragon’s Kin (2003).

I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for an Elfquest and Dragonlance adaptation!

We’ll keep you updated as news appears.
