xbullshit_00000I didn’t have high expectations about this film till the overly positive reviews started flooding in. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. Lately I’ve had completely different opinions on most of this year’s summer blockbusters than pretty much everyone else. This is no exception, I didn’t really like X-Men Days of Future Past.

The film begins in this fucked up world after sentinels have taken over the world, and they get the idea to send someone back in time to stop this future from happening.  They have a discussion about why wolverine is the only one that can survive the mental trip back in time in some bullshit reason to cover up the truth that he’s just the most popular character. Kitty Pryde then sends Wolverine back in time with her new abilities that came out of nowhere. They explain it as her evolving more in the future, but how does time traveling consciousness relate in any way to her ability to faze through objects? Whatever, I swallow this pill of nonsense and the movie really begins.

From this point on I can sum up this film to this: Wolverine goes back in time to erase ‘X-Men 3 The Last stand’, and ‘X-Men Origins Wolverine’ from ever happening. For this fact, I’m grateful for this film being made, even though this film leaves me with so many continuity questions.

destroyerThis is the seventh X-Men film. It’s ridiculous that it’s taken this many films for them to finally deliver us Sentinels (that aren’t some training hologram). I’m very disappointed on what they delivered. I was hoping for some epic mutants battling Sentinel army on a grand scale. Instead I get two different types of fights: 1) The future X-men fight Thor’s Destroyer in some tight indoor quarters. 2) Adamantium-less tight pants Wolverine pretty much has to dodge sentinel attacks since he’s useless as terrible make-up Beast is the only mutant that does any Sentinel fighting. Sadly I think this is the last time this franchise gives us Sentinels, until maybe they reboot it.

One thing this film does deliver is great Quicksilver moments early in the film. This film needed more Quicksilver throughout, I probably would have given this film a higher rating. This film wasn’t terrible, but the best I can say is I was at least kept entertained. This is nowhere near ‘X3‘, or ‘Wolverine Origins‘ bad, but ‘X-Men First Class’ was much better than this in my opinion.

I give X-Men: Days of Future Past a 7.5 out of 10

Not really excited about 2016’s Lady Gagapocalypse.
