Bill Murray’s “A Very Murray Christmas” is streaming on Netflix today, however it is not his first time being involved in a Christmas classic. In 1988 Paramount Pictures released the retelling of Charles Dickens immortal Christmas Class Scrooge starring Bill Murray. Only this time it was called Scrooged.
In this modern take on Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”, Frank Cross (Bill Murray) is a wildly successful television executive whose cold ambition and curmudgeonly nature has driven away the love of his life, Claire Phillips (Karen Allen). But after firing a staff member, Eliot Loudermilk (Bobcat Goldthwait), on Christmas Eve, Frank is visited by a series of ghosts who give him a chance to re-evaluate his actions and right the wrongs of his past.
If you have not seen this film you are really missing out for it has some amazing lines in it that to today still make me laugh. I hope if you have some free time tonight you go to the DVD collection or to your Hulu or Amazon Prime and throw on Scrooged!
