ernest saves christmas

25 days of christmas movies is a so bad its good sort of movie. It’s 1988’s super cheesy movie – Ernest Saves Christmas Santa Claus must pass on the duties and mantle to a new Santa. When he picks a former kids’ show host to take his place, he’s off to Orlando to recruit him. Santa Claus hails a cab and ends up with Ernest P Worrell as his driver. Along with a teenaged runaway named Harmony Starr, Santa Claus and Ernest must get the chosen Santa to receive the gift of Christmas before it is too late. If you’ve seen one Ernest movie, you’ve kind of seen them all. As they go, Ernest is more incidental than plot. In usual Ernest fashion, he can act as a foil, sometimes helping but actually causing the extra problems. This movie is filled with the one liners and random characters that have made this character a cult classic. I’ll admit that Ernest is an acquired taste, but I had my first sampling in ’87 and never turned back… know what I mean?
