WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR “28 MONTHS LATER” FOR YEARS!
Okay, so maybe that won’t be the title or anything, but Danny Boyle says he and Alex Garland have an idea on a possible third film in the British zombie “28 Days Later” franchise.
In a recent interview with The Independent, Boyle commented on the “project” (using the term loosely here), saying:
“Alex Garland and I have a wonderful idea for the third part. It’s properly good. The original film led to a bit of a resurgence in the zombie drama and it doesn’t reference any of that. It doesn’t feel stale at all. [Alex] is concentrating on directing his own work at the moment, so it’s stood in abeyance really, but it’s a you-never-know.”
What about the possibility of Boyle returning to the director’s chair after helming the 2002 Cillian Murphy-starring film (which Garland wrote the screenplay for)?
“I don’t really want to play a role, and [producer] Andrew [McDonald] said, ‘Leave it to me.’ So he’s gone off and is working on it.”
If you’ll recall, Boyle and Garland were only involved in 2007’s “28 Weeks Later” as executive producers; Juan Carlos Fresnadillo directed from a script he co-wrote with Rowan Joffe, Enrique López Lavigne and Jesús Olmo.
Would you want to see yet-another-zombie flick?
We’ll let you know what we hear about this possible film.
