If you though the video games of 2018 were cool and challenging, just wait to see the ones that will be released next year! The year will be full of amazing releases and it will be difficult to select just one, which is why we picked the top five ones that sound the best.

Anthem from BioWare

Release date: February 22, 2019

After their last attempt at a great game (Mass Effect: Andromeda), BioWare is putting all their hopes and dreams into Anthem, a loot-based shooter (which is not really their style). The game is supposed to be a battle between players (also called freelancers) and giant monsters in combination with world-altering forces of nature.

For now, the developers let the fans of the franchise sweat over the details and keep the game under wraps. So, we’ll have to wait until next year to see if this online shooter multiplayer game will be the amazing universe it promises to be.

Metro: Exodus

Release date: February 22, 2019

After two great installments (Metro 33 and Metro: Last Light), the developers decided to make a third one. The first two games had their problems, it’s true, but the challenge was extremely well driven, keeping players on their toes at every corner.

There is one spoiler about the game to come and that is the gruesome creatures that gave you nightmares in the first two versions will no longer be confined to the underground. The Exodus promises to bring a bigger world, with lots of things to discover and cool new weapons to try.

Now if you’ve already tried the first two installments, you can still keep your training by playing some Zombie games.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Release date: 2019 second quarter

Fire Emblem is a Nintendo franchise that puts a lot of focus on strategy while the player explores a fantastic universe with spells and magic. In the new installment, things are quite different than what players used to know, so it’s best to keep an open mind if you played this before.

All we know until now is that the map will represent three different regions (or houses) and you’ll be able to explore various castles and realms. Regardless, the graphics and story you can see in the trailer are enticing enough to have players waiting in excitement!

Psychonauts 2

If recent cinematography is any indication, young people love characters who can do cool stuff without too much effort. So, there’s no wonder that this game got so popular fast! After all, it brings together a bunch of teenagers with superpowers!

The first version was released in 2015 and the requests for a sequel have been finally answered with the second installment that will launch sometime in 2019.

The premise of the game is the same, and players will be Raz, the agent who has telekinesis powers and can use them for all sorts of things. The game is sprinkled with challenging puzzles and quests, but things will get deeper as you’ll get to know Raz’s family and friends.

But until the game is released, you should try Hole.io – it’s also about a completely weird world where the character has unusual powers.

Skull & Bones

If you enjoyed playing Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, you will definitely love what they have in store for players in 2019!

The pirate theme was very well-received by the public which is why Ubisoft decided to build on it for their next installment. In Skull and Bones, you can build an entire pirate empire with a ship and some boldness, so why not go for it?

Of course, the game will be multiplayer, but there are promised some solo missions as well. This way, everyone can join in on the fun!
