I am so giddy about this casting announcement, I’m not gonna lie. Edward James Olmos, known for his iconic roles across the TV and filmsphere, is joining ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. We can only hope EJO will speak to Coulson just once like Gaff speaks to Deckard.
Olmos will play Robert Gonzales, whose debut this spring in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will have massive repercussions for Director Coulson and his team. Marvel reports “Edward James Olmos brings an amazing gravitas to any role he inhabits, something we knew we needed for Robert Gonzales,” said Executive Producer and Marvel’s Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “When Olmos first appears on our series, everyone will have to take notice–including our favorite Agents.”
I know I’m gonna make even MORE Battlestar Galactica references with Admiral Adama joining the team. This is the third BSG acquisition S.H.I.E.L.D. has made, Emmy winning series composer Bear McCreary was the first and former Cylon (sorry, spoilers) Lucy Lawless the second.
S.H.I.E.L.D. returns on ABC on Tuesday, March 3rd at 9:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
