– Bragging rights(Featured work/collaborations): I really have no major rights to brag, although I did just get to meet Alice Coopers band from doing some artwork for them. I recently attached myself to do artwork for a charity called 50′ closer to a cure, so I am basically all over the map as far as clientele.

Artist continued profile. Let’s get a tiny bit personal:

– What are your goals as an artist?: My goal ever since I was a kid was to draw Comics in some shape or form. In general, I am working toward making a living on my artwork instead of just supplemental income here and there.

– Favourite artist/why?: Alex Ross is right up on top in regards to comic art. I love how he makes every character seem so real and human. That led me to my portraiture style.  – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Ross

– If someone created a Comic about your life what would they title it?: The real life adventures of Joseph (this is actually in the plan haha).

.
– Where there any defining moments in your life that have influenced your artistic style?:
None, just years and years of practice, taking a little here and there from other artists and styles and making it mine.

– Has reading a Comic ever changed your life? Which one/why?: Easy. Superman. This ties into a piece in my collection here. As a kid, I had a horrible abusive, alcoholic Father and I used to have to get whooped and see my Mother take the same. As a kid I instinctively knew that wasn’t the way to be so I found comics and would disappear into that little world. In turn, that has caused me to be the only male in the family that isn’t an alcoholic, druggie or what have you, a US Marine (also first in the family history) a very accomplished weightlifter (again, first one) first one to go to college (yep, first). So in a sense, trying to live up to a comic book ideal rather than what was presented to me as a kid, comics made me the man I am. The piece I made for it is called Metaphor, Superman catching me as I fall.

– What do you think of Comics being made into movies?:
I love it. All of a sudden the things that I have loved my entire life (and sometimes gotten my ass kicked when I was smaller lol) have become popular and people see that its ok to like this stuff, and nowadays with the great writing that’s out there coupled with the fantastic artwork, you have one hell of a way to tell a story. The movies have made all of this possible in my opinion.

– Favourite Comic artist of all time/why?: I really like Gary Frank. I love how he is able to convey every emotion and again, make the people human. His Superman is top notch, not a huge guy, just a guy. His Brainiac line sold me on him. He does all of this with a ridiculous amount of detail, its just right.  – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Frank

– What do you prefer to snack on when creating a masterpiece?: Usually I’ll just sip on a beer rather than eat. I’m kind of a beast when I eat so something could easily fly onto the page.

– If you could have any power from a Comic character, what would it be/why?: Flight or Super strength. Flight, because hey, gas is expensive plus I would get to crap on cars I don’t like. Super Strength because, well, that would just be fun. Telekinesis might be fun too, pants people, make a boob go flipping up randomly you know, fun (which is likely why I don’t have that gift lol).

Christopher Reeve.
.
– Where do you ‘draw’ your daily inspiration from?:
Daily life. I try to keep something to draw with me at all times. I can be in the gym and an idea will hit me. Walking at the mall, watching TV and something will pop into my head.

– If you could collaborate with ANYBODY who would it be, why?:
Doug Mahnke, Alex Ross, Joe Kubert. Doug because he is a fellow lifter and a damn nice guy, Alex because he serves as a huge inspiration for me, plus I would like to make jokes about having no hair. And with Mr. Kubert, well, mainly to be taken to school and shown how its done. – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doug_Mahnke – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Ross – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Kubert

.
– Have you ever read a Comic that influenced you sexually?:
Nah, that’s what porn was for.

– Likes: Working out, drawing, reading, playing video games. Having laughs and a couple beers with my best friend.

– Dislikes: Haters, Disrespect, Spiders, Flying Spiders, Camel Spiders (to hell with them) Liars, rude, unreliable people, and people mistaking that because I AM nice that I HAVE to be.

– If you were to ask any Comic character out on a date who would it be/what would you do? (no censorship here):
Haha, I have never really thought about it. Id have to say Wonder Woman or Jade or Jenny (hey she’s kind of a comic). Wonder Woman would be a good conversation I think. Jade could make me cool green shit (bed included for random intimate encounters) and Jenny because I said so.

– Any thank you’s/shoutouts?: Thanks to everyone taking the time to read all of my babble. Thanks to Rich Miears for being the one person in the world that I can count on and actually keep my temper in check. Thanks to my Mother for always being my wall, and support group.
