It’s long been rumored to be happening, but as of today, we know there will be an actual REAL Captain Marvel movie, and it’ll be the first female-fronted superhero film since Supergirl.  How cool is THAT?  We’re so excited, we’ve been bouncing off the walls of our various headquarters today in response to the awesome that has been this Marvel-ous day.

But who should PLAY Captain Marvel?  Carol Danvers is a longstanding character in the various comic titles, appearing in Avengers, Iron Man, X-Men, her own Captain Marvel stand alones, and many many more.

We have this quote from Marvel-Heart Kevin Feige about who the movie Captain Marvel will be:

Our first two choices come as no surprise if you follow our site (and our EIC’s writing).

Katee Sackhoff:

Probably one of the longest rumored superhero casting choices, Katee Sackhoff punched her way into the action scene during her groundbreaking and stereotype shattering role as Kara “Starbuck” Thrace on Ron D. Moore’s Battlestar Galactica reimagined series.  The role was originally played by Dirk Benedict during the first BSG series in the ’70s, and the casting choice/change was unpopular for a very long time…..until Kara decked her XO and was thrown in the brig for “striking a superior asshole”.  Since BSG, Katee has appeared in mostly action-based roles like in Riddick, Oculus, and Longmire.  She rides motorcycles on her weekends off, raises money for numerous charities, and is in general a badass chick who would do justice to this character.

AND WE HAVE THIS LADY, TOO:

Katheryn Winnick:

Another one of those real life badass ladies, Katheryn has taken over historical drama television as the former shield maiden-now-Earl- Lagertha Lothbrook on History’s Vikings.   Winnick used to be a card carrying bodyguard before pursuing her acting, and currently holds a third-degree black belt in tae kwon do, and second degree in karate.  She can be seen swinging her sword alongside men twice her size, and keeps up with them, often setting the pace during battle sequences.

I’ve been lucky enough to personally interview both Katee and Katheryn numerous times, and they are just as awesome as you think.
