PhantomArtist continued profile. Let’s get a tiny bit personal:
.
– What are your goals as an artist?: Complete my first graphic novel ‘Lamprey, Lost!’ and get to work on Judge Dredd. Although I have done work on the Phantom. Cover, colours and full-page illustrations. I never got to do sequential art on the character. That goal is an important one.
.
– Favourite artist/why?: Frank Frazetta. His work changed the way people look at fantasy art. The action and figures in his paintings are so dramatically powerful. He was a pioneer in his style of painting.
.
.
– What do you think of Comics being made into movies?: It’s great. It shows that comics are important and worthy of appreciation. It also proves comics are not just for little boys. But the flip side is some movies can add damage to a series. For example, The Phantom movie starring Billy Zane. I loved it for the most part. But it was far from a proper representation. Same goes for the Stallone Judge Dredd.
.
SiniStar Trek– Has reading a Comic ever changed your life? Which one/why?: The Phantom. For one, I fell in love with the various art styles which date back to 1936. The character was raised to be good and help others only because it’s the right thing to do. It wasn’t for reward or revenge or suddenly had an epiphany. I love that about him. I have three daughters. The two youngest have names from the Phantom. My five year old is named Heloise. After the Phantom’s own daughter. And my two year old, Evie. Her middle name is Falk. After the Phantom’s creator Lee Falk. I also changed my last name to Walker. The Phantom’s last name.
.
– If someone created a Comic about your life what would they title it?: “A Busy Day, Procrastinating’. A Cpt Americafriend of mine once suggested I create a comic based on my life. It’s definitely something that might be worth considering. It’s a very rare circumstance for a transgender woman working in comic books.
.
– If you could collaborate with anybody, who would it be/why?: I’d love to collaborate with Terry Pratchett. He’s my favourite author. I’d also love to work with John Wagner on Judge Dredd.
.
– If you could have any power from a Comic character, what would it be/why?: I’ve always loved Mystique’s power to shape-shift. I could be dressed and have my hair and make up done in an instant.
.
– Where there any defining moments in your life that have influenced your artistic style?: When I started collecting Phantom comics. They were always in black and white. Many of them were reprints of the old classics. Ray Moore and Sy Barry heavily influenced my comic style early on. I focused so much on their pen and inks. I just absorbed it.
.
XMen– Favourite Comic artist of all time/why?: Impossible for me to answer with just one. So here’s a bunch instead that get my juices flowin’. Brian Bolland, Carlos Ezquerra, Simon Bisley, Ray Moore, Sy Barry, Eric Powell, Drew Struzan and Bernie Wrightson. Plus many, many more.
.
– What do you prefer to snack on when creating a masterpiece?: Savoury snacks as long as there’s no palm oil. And the artists’ nectar, coffee.
.
– Where do you ‘draw’ your daily inspiration from?(See what I did there hehe): Oooh it’s sketchy (wink) but I think it’s mostly from books, movies and cartoons.
.
– What horror fiction character scares you the most?: Hmmm. None, what so ever. Horror fiction doesn’t frighten me.

– Have you ever done something really unbelievable, only to have no one around to see it?: Hmmm. If I have, not even I saw it happen.
.
Monkey– Which Celebrity do you find the most annoying?: There’s just a giant Katamari ball of annoying celebrities. It’s one of the reasons why we’ve had no antenna plugged into the TV for the past couple of years.
.
– Likes: Logical thinking. Intelligence. Science. Cartoons. Fantasy. Science Fiction. The Lord of the Rings is my favourite book and movie. I absolutely love Discworld. And I’m getting right into Star Trek lately too. I’m becoming a late Trekkie.
.
– Dislikes: Greed. Prejudice. Unless it’s directed towards @#$%! TWILIGHT!
.
– Favourite joke: Don’t have a favourite. But many of the best are from Monty Python. No argument there. Nudge, nudge. Say no more.
.
Leia– Any thank you’s/shoutouts?: Joe Gentile and Mike Bullock for allowing my first ever comic book publication to be The Phantom. I’m forever proud I can say that. And Devin Grayson for specifically choosing me to work with her on a story for Womanthology: Space. You’re awesome Devin. Never forget that.
