FettCreator continued profile. Let’s get a tiny bit personal:
.

– What are your goals as a creator?: Ultimately I’d like to be able to live off my artwork, I have a desire to have a family so it would be nice to get that happening before I have to divide attention between the studio and children. People keep telling me that its hard work and it requires sacrifice but I think it just takes time management. I don’t mind working into the night if I have to.

– If you could collaborate with anybody, who would it be and why?: That’s difficult, I think if I had my pick of anyone it would probably be John Layman (writer of Chew) because I think we would complement each other’s style. However more close to home I would probably collaborate with my good friend Alastair Collins because we have known each other for a long time now and when we stay focused on a subject we can create some great stuff. Al was the first writer I ever teamed up with when starting our first webcomic and it’s always good to w
ork with someone on the same wavelength as you.
.
– Were there any defining moments in your life that have influenced your creative style?: In terms of my creative style I’d say that webcomics got me more invested in being a comic artist than anything else. I read comic books before but after seeing that there were comics that ordinary guys like me were putting up on the net I very quickly jumped in. Penny Arcade, PvP, even Ctrl-Alt-Del (I was young and didn’t know any better) they all had an impact on my drawing and writing style that allowed me to start doing more and more.
buzz page.
.
– If you could have any power from a Comic character, what would it be/why?:
I think we have all had this conversation on many occasions, up until recently I always said “Super Strength” because I thought it would be really cool to just pick up a car and throw it into the air like a beach ball but lately I’ve revised my answer to “Luck”. I would love to go to a café and find I didn’t have the money I needed in my wallet only to have the door swing open and have the exact money blow in and land at my feet.
.
– Favorite Comic artist of all time/why?: Alex Ross, the man combines fine art with Buzz Page 2comic art and in an incredibly labour intensive process manages to create some of the most beautifully painted pieces inside or outside comics. Gouache is a very tricky medium to master, trust me I have tried and it’s a huge pain so I just have the utmost respect for the man not just because of his skill but also because he doesn’t have to do it. Alex Ross could just pass on his pencils to someone else and have them inked and digitally coloured like the majority of artists but he doesn’t, he chooses to use a time consuming medium that limits the amount of work he can do in a year but the payoff is fantastic!

.
– Favorite Comic writer of all time/why?: Denny O’Neil, he wrote one of the most important comic book runs ever made. I refer to the Green Lantern/Green Arrow series from the 70’s, a socially aware comic book that had some awesome stories in it with my two favourite characters (Green Arrow and Green Lantern are tattooed on my arm for a reason). This series redefined both heroes and then if that weren’t enough, O’Neil then went on to bring the dark gritty Batman back which has certainly shaped how the character has been portrayed since! AMAZING MAN!
.
Stannis– What do you prefer to snack on when creating a masterpiece?: Pistachio nuts! The only problem is that I have to keep stopping work to shell them. When I have kids I’ll have them do it for me!
.
– What is your pre sneeze face like?: I sneeze like a machine gun so it’s not only ugly but it’s also sustained over about 8 sneezes.

– Have you ever had a tragic date? If so, how?:
Not really, I’ve always been fairly lucky in love but I have gone out on a date that was just a dud. I asked out a girl and us being young she had also asked her friend to come with us as a kind of chaperone I guess. Anyway the girl I asked out was quiet and boring the whole time but her friend was really friendly and chatty so it was weird.

– If somebody wrote a Comic about your life, what would it be titled?:
Paul Briske: A Cautionary Tale.

– Likes:
Comics, Pistachios, Bob Dylan, Monty Python, Pulp Adventure, Sci-Fi, Acting, Painting etc.
.
Usagi– Dislikes: Organised Religion, Liars, Racists, Homophobes, Idiots, Tamworth and Bogans.
.
– Favorite joke: Customer:“Do you serve lobsters?”
                             Waiter: “We serve anybody, sir.”
.
– Any thank you’s/shoutouts?: I have to thank Darren Close for his unending guidance with all things Australian comics related, he really knows his stuff and he doesn’t lie to you if something you’re doing is wrong. Also Paul Abstruse who is an awesome artist and a top guy, he did my tattoo for me! All the people I have met through the Australian BuzzComics Scene, Amber Forbes who I have taken to describing as “The plucky young girl that helps me out”, Elizabeth Graham my girlfriend who has been very understanding of my work, Alastair Collins who is the O’Brien to my Bashir, my Mum who bails me out constantly and my Dad who is sadly no longer with us but he really gave me the kick up the backside that I needed.
