SpidermanCreator continued profile. Let’s get a tiny bit personal:
.
– What are your goals as a creator?: First and foremost to follow my Artistic muse, wherever that may take me. What I generally try to do in my professional work is to seek out stories to work on that resonate and strike a chord with me personally, that way it doesnt feel like ‘work’. Currently I am wrapping up illustrating an superhero/sci-fi story called The Aesir. Artistically for that I’m going back for inspiration to the Artists I loved growing up. Mcfarlane, Silvestri, Keown, etc. It features a ton of action scenes and its been such a blast to draw. – I’m also colouring a ‘psychological thriller’ comic book called College Hill with Australian writer Samuel David, that I have been doing all the line-work for on and off for Astonishing Xmen1_WayneNicholsthe past few years. With the addition of colour, the whole book is stepping up to another level and I feel is really some of the best work I’ve done. Artistically, I’m experimenting, changing and evolving, and continually striving to grow as a storyteller. I’m also finding time to write and work on more of my own stories which I also hope will see the light of day soon.
.
– If you could collaborate with anybody, who would it be and why?: This question stumps me at the moment, a few years ago there would have been a large list of well known creative people I wanted to collaborate with, but currently I’m more interested exploring and developing my own Artistic ideas or collaborating with fresh and new creative people.
.
– Where there any defining moments in your life that have influenced your creative style?: I’ve had a few defining moments and continue to have them, but one that stands out in particular was going to OzComicCon back in 1997 in Sydney. The Artists from the old Wildstorm studios over in the USA were visiting Australia (Jim Lee, Whilce Portacio, Travis Charest) and it was my first time seeing Travis’s original WildCats/Xmen pages in the flesh. I was already a massive fan of his work, at the time he was my favourite Artist I believe. And seeing the linework and beautiful level of detail in those original pages completely blew my young mind. The whole experience was topped by have a great sit down portfolio review with the man himself.
.
the_list_volume_1_cover– If you could have any power from a Comic character, what would it be/why?: The powers of Superman, he’s practically got all you’d need, and he’s a nice dude to boot!
.
– Favourite Comic artist of all time/why?: This is an impossible one for me to nail down to just one, so a select few of my favs are Mike Mignola, Joe Madureira, Travis Charest, Simon Bisley, Moebius. All different, all with compelling artistic visions.
.
– Favourite Comic writer of all time/why?: Also, really difficult but would have to go with Alan Moore. For the obvious reasons.
.
– What do you prefer to snack on when creating a masterpiece?: Just something simple like a glass of water or warm cup of tea. Nothing too distracting. ie, don’t put any chocolate near me or it will be demolished in no time flat and probably get all over the page I’m working on.
College Hill_Page37.
– Can you solve a rubix cube?: Haven’t done yet, but never say never..
.
– What would be your best achievement to date?: To still be drawing comicbooks 7 or so years on from the day I first went to it freelance.
.
– Have you ever accidentally injured anyone?: I’ve accidentally hurt myself a couple of times when i was younger by stepping on a ball and twisting my ankle, be it a football, basketball, etc… it must look pretty funny,  considering how much people have laughed when I’ve done it!
.
– Likes: A few select things: Synchronicity, Red Dwarf, Jack Russell puppies, Cider, death metal, warm smiles, ice cream on a cold winters day, that all powerful buzz you get after a solid gym session.
.
Incredible_Hulk_by_FlowComa– Dislikes: Penciling and pushing down too hard and snapping 0.3 pacer led’s. The buildup of scratches on a wacom cintiq screen…
.
– Favourite joke: Milli Vanilli winning best new artist Grammy in 1990.
.
– Any thank you’s/shoutouts?: To my family, to my friends and to everyone that supports my work and allows me to keep on doing what I love to do, Thankyou!
