After Apple’s keynote speech, my personal preference is to pass on the Apple Watch. Maybe I’m the only one but I don’t feel like the design is quite there yet and, I’ll be honest, it still looks kind of bulky to me.

But if you’re looking to buy the watch when it’s available for pre-order on April 10th, here’s what you should know!

Size Matters

The watch will come in 2 sizes, 38mm and 42mm in height. Or 1.5″ and 1.65″ for those of you who hate the metric system. I’m Canadian so I like my metrics.

Style

The watch comes in 3 different styles, Watch, Watch Sport, and Watch Edition. Each style comes in 2 different case options with Watch in stainless steel and space black stainless steel. Sport comes in silver aluminum and space gray aluminum. Edition in yellow gold and rose gold, both 18-karat.

The bands come in a variety of styles, colors, materials and prices. The bands will run you anywhere from $49 to $449 which is kinda expensive for a bracelet.

Watch has the most options and supports link, sport, leather loop, classic buckle and modern buckle bracelet band designs. Sport only supports a sport band while edition supports sport, classic buckle and modern buckle. Check out the following image to get an idea of all the available designs.

Battery and Apple Pay

Yep, comes with Apple Pay so that’s pretty damn handy. Apple also claims the watch’s battery life is 18 hours but the day a claim about battery power turns out to be true is the day I get taken bodily up into heaven.

How Much Will This Cost Me?

Sport will be the cheapest of the watches and cost $349 for the 38mm watch and $399 for the 42mm watch. Watch will cost $549-$1049 for the 38mm and $599 – $1099 for the 42mm. If your not sitting down, do so now… Edition will run you an ass-clenching $10,000 – $17,000 for the 38mm and $12,000 to $15,000 for the 42mm. No, I did not accidentally add zeros to those prices.

If you’re hellbent on buying the watch, far be it for me to dissuade you but… know that in a year we’ll have a far better device. And hopefully at a cheaper price point.
