Mother of God!
It’s been 18 years since I put down the controller on the original Play Station when Cloud Strife’s story came to it’s conclusion and I’ll admit, parts of this game made me cry– especially Aerith’s death. Final Fantasy VII has been the holy grail of RPG where popularity, graphics and story coalesced into a perfect storm.
Arguably, some fans would say that it’s not the best game in the series but no one can argue that it single handedly rocketed the franchise to superstardom and probably helped move a few units of Sony’s Playstation platform.
Now Square Enix, after years of fans pleading, has finally officially announced that they will release a full fledged remake of Final Fantasy VII during Sony’s press conference at E3. From the sound of the trailer they intend to release the game on PS4 first which implies a release for other platforms later.
There’s no release date set, but you can watch the teaser here.
