There is a tiny sneak peak of the Millennium Falcon ride that’s rumored for Disney’s “Star Wars Land” in the promo for the 60th anniversary special.
From what we see, I can’t tell you what it’s going to be, but let me tell you what I want it to be. I want the line to be an Imperial/First Order structure of some sort, doesn’t matter what: Star Destroyer, Death Star, Base, I don’t care. I want to walk through a sweet ass Imperial set piece and end in a ship hangar with a replica YT-1300. Now, if we could get access to the thing one group at a time, cool, but I’d accept the YT interior also being part of the line. You walk up the ramp, the very same one we’ve seen Han and Chewie and Luke and Leia walking on, shooting from, and into the ship just as we saw it in the movies. You would get to walk around the whole thing until you finally reach the door to the cockpit where you finally enter the ride portion of the attraction. Here is where a Falcon cockpit shaped simulator/roller coaster car slides up to the door, you enter, take your seats and then it pulls away from the replica ship and enters the ride. Now you send it on a track with a simulator screen up so that you really feel the motion and then they can send you on an awesome space adventure escaping the First Order. And if you could add the gun turrets to the experience, just shut up and take my money.
If you want to see more about the actual ride, and maybe some Harrison Ford, The Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60 will air on ABC on Feb. 21 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET.
What do you want in a “Millennium Falcon Ride?” What other Star Wars rides need to be made?
