As shocking as that headline might be if you have watched the finale for season 5 of HBO’s Game Of Thrones, the promo doesn’t lie.  Be prepared for possible spoilers, as I’m assuming anyone reading this has actually caught up on the show.

If you recall, at the end of season 5, Jon Snow suffered a Julius Caesar moment when the  brothers of the Night’s Watch attacked the Bastard of Winterfell with multiple knife stabs to the chest and back.  “For the Watch”, they said, as each blade penetrated Snow.  This is exactly how the end of the most recent “Song Of Ice And Fire” novels (that’s the real name of the “Game Of Thrones” book series, by the way) “A Dance Of Dragons” ends.  I was sitting on a plane coming home from a convention when I read it, and I yelled and carried on causing a disturbance because I was so shocked.

BUT- Because in the books (start the counter now), Melisandre (Stannis Baratheon’s red priestess) never leaves Castle Black to go with the last Baratheon King on his doomed march to Winterfell.  She’s there, she stays, and we know that the Red Clergy has the power to bring people back from the dead.  Think what Thoros of Myr was able to do with Beric Dondarrion so many times, and what he does with Lady Stoneheart.  Needless to say, the ongoing belief from book-reader fans is that Jon wasn’t going to STAY dead, that Melisandre would bring him back, and booooooy would that put a hitch in the plans of the Brothers.

It would appear HBO may be following that thought, as this new promo released over the weekend advertising the series return in April 2016 shows a rather live looking Snow.
