Do you remember the horrific joy of reading a “Goosebumps” story under the blanket late at night?  If so, you had an awesome childhood, and you’ll more than likely appreciate this contest.

Universal Pictures has an upcoming film based on the frightening series of stories coming up, and it’ll star Jack Black.  To celebrate and gear up for the release, Goosebumps is sponsoring a contest for the most frightening meme you can think up using characters from the stories.   The contest ended officially yesterday at Midnight, and we’re waiting to find out who won!  You can read more on the website here. The grand prize includes a Skype video call with series author R. L. Stein, and an autographed set of books.  Secondary prizes include nifty swag and posters.

Unfortunately, we STILL don’t have the official trailer released yet, even though at SDCC 2014, a teaser was shown.  The official synopsis for the film was released however:

Upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets the beautiful girl, Hannah (Odeya Rush), living right next door. But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach’s comes when he learns that Hannah has a mysterious dad who is revealed to be R. L. Stine (Jack Black), the author of the bestselling Goosebumps series. It turns out that there is a reason why Stine is so strange… he is a prisoner of his own imagination – the monsters that his books made famous are real, and Stine protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books. When Zach unintentionally unleashes the monsters from their manuscripts and they begin to terrorize the town, it’s suddenly up to Stine, Zach, and Hannah to get all of them back in the books where they belong.

Goosebumps opens in U.S. theaters in October 2015.
