Halloween gets taken pretty seriously by a lot of people, but maybe none so seriously as a couple in Parma, Ohio who have come under fire from at least one offended neighbor asking the city to force them to take down their graphic display.

Bodies hang upside down from trees, a cross, and one impaled through the middle with a knife sticking out of its throat. That’s just the beginning of a display which includes a large plastic gargoyle, a cartoonish “Danger!” sign and a stack of plastic skulls among other typical Halloween decor. One neighbor, Jackie Anselmo says it looks too real and that her daughter thought they were real people. She contacted the city to have it taken down but the city says there is nothing they can do about it.

Says Anselmo, “Almost horrified that somebody would think that it’s ok to put it that close to an elementary school.”

But Vicki Barrett and her husband tell the local news they haven’t received any complaints since they put up their display and say they would tone it down if they knew kids were having a hard time leaving school.

What do you think? Is this a case of people pushing shock value too far or a case of the overly sensitive trying to get their way?
