Break out the Midnight Margaritas- we’re getting a prequel series from HBO Max all about the Owens women we met in “Practical Magic”!

According to Variety, the series (“Rules of Magic”) will be a prequel set in New York City in the 1960’s, focusing on aunts Jet and Franny (played in the 1998 film by Stockard Channing and Diane Wiest) as well as their brother Vincent.

Rules of Magic” is based on Alice Hoffman’s “Practical Magic” novels, which you can pick up on Amazon.

Melissa Rosenberg (creator of Netflix’s “Marvel’s Jessica Jones“) is executive producing via Tall Girls Productions (this is actually her first project under her new overall deal with WBTV), as well as writing. Dana Baratta will write and executive produce, along with Denise Di Novi and Nina Tassler of PatMa Productions and Hoffman also executive producing.

HBO Max is currently setting up a writers’ room for the series with a 10 script order.
