After Guardians of the Galaxy came out everyone wanted a copy of Awesome Mix Vol 1… Can’t say I blame you… So did we! So we here at Aggressive Comix did some research and found the tools you need to make this badass Mix Tape For yourself!
Step 1 The Tape!
The tape is key so we really needed to make sure we were using the correct one!
After careful analysis there are some details to this tape that we can use. Example the 4 silver little disks (these are actually supposed to represent cd’s as is the 2 yellow rings coming into frame just under the sticker right below the word Mix.
After doing some research we realized they are using a TDK CDing 2 recordable tape.
See the similarities? ALSO DO NOT BE FOOLED TDK CDing II is NOT CDing 2. Both exist and look completely different.
Step 2: PhotoShop
So next step was we went to our old trusted friend photoshop and went to town. A lot of people are going with white for the coloring but have you seen anything over 30 years that is a paper material REALLY keep its true white color? That shit is going to yellow and it will eventually look weathered… especially if you are a legendary outlaw like Star Lord.
So after a few hours (aka 20 minutes or so) we had a product we liked.
We ended deciding we had 2 options either put the same decal on the back of the tape or do the decal minus the Awesome Mix Vol. 1 OR make it say Awesome Mix Vol 2. We ended up going with the blank side this way you can always change it up on your own.
Step 3 Avery Labels
Figure a tape deck is only 4 inches wide so why not just use am envelope label stickers from Avery? We used model 5263 and put the Awesome Mix Vol 1 on the one side and the Blank label on the other side. We actually attached for you the pre-created template Awesome Mix Vol 1 Printable Labels
Final step is cut them out and apply to your tape and it should look something like this!
Step 4 Put Tracks on Tape
This part sort of speaks for itself… if you don’t know what to do here… That’s on you. So get the CD (Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol.1) and record the CD to the tape… Talk about going backwards in Tech… and then enjoy some awesome tunes on your very own Awesome Mix Vol 1. Star Lord will be proud!
