Suzanne Collins, author of the hugely popular YA dysopian fiction series “The Hunger Games”, will be releasing a prequel novel set in the same world of Panem through publishing house Scholastic.

The prequel doesn’t have a title yet, but it will reportedly take place in Panem 64 years prior to the events of the 2008 novel. It’ll release in May of 2020, and we’re thinking maybe we’ll be getting more of a look into how The Hunger Games came to be.

According to Deadline, Lionsgate also eyeing a 2020 possible release date for the film adaptation of the book.

Chairman of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Joe Drake said of the announcement:

“As the proud home of The Hunger Games movies, we can hardly wait for Suzanne’s next book to be published. We’ve been communicating with her during the writing process and we look forward to continuing to work closely with her on the movie.”

We’ll let you know what else we hear about this developing story.

May the odds be ever in your favor.
