Bruce_Willis_150Well, that’s pretty obvious– but the man behind the catchphrase, Bruce Willis, has come out to say he’s against a new gun control law which would infringe on the 2nd amendment.

“I think that you can’t start to pick apart anything out of the Bill of Rights without thinking that it’s all going to become undone. If you take one out or change one law, then why wouldn’t they take all your rights away from you?” He told the Associated Press.

He also had some choice words about the link between violence in films and real life– which is, there isn’t. “No one commits a crime because they saw a film. There’s nothing to support that,” he said.

As the token Canadian here on AC where we don’t really have gun rights and the gun laws are far more stringent, I’d like to point out that people still get shot and killed in Canada. Gun laws may make it harder to obtain a gun but if someone seriously wants to go on a killing spree, the uncomfortable truth is, they will find a way no matter the law.

“It’s a difficult thing, and I really feel bad for those families,” Willis says. “I’m a father, and it’s just a tragedy. But I don’t know how you legislate insanity. I don’t know what you do about it. I don’t even know how you begin to stop that.”

Personally, I like the gun laws as they are up here in Soviet Canuckistan. However I don’t want (and don’t get) a say in what the gun laws below the 49th parallel should be and I don’t have an opinion either way– different country and all that. But I will say that Bruce Willis does make some good points.

What do you think about this? Is John McClane right?
