At Cannes Festival this week, it was officially (and finally) announced that Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter will be returning to the silver screen to reprise their roles as aspiring rockstars Ted “Theodore” Logan and Bill S. Preston Esq. in the third Bill & Ted film.

According to Deadline, “the company handling international sales of Bill and Ted Face the Music, has been shopping the threequel around. MGM still holds the rights, and Orion Pictures will be handling stateside release of the flick, which is currently in pre-production.”

Returning are creators Chris Matheson (Imagine That, A Goofy Movie) and Ed Solomon (Men in Black, Now You See Me) and Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest, Fun with Dick and Jane) will direct.

How do the guys feel about returning as these iconic goofy and lovable besties?

“We couldn’t be more excited to get the whole band back together again. Chris and Ed wrote an amazing script, and with Dean at the helm we’ve got a dream team,” stated Reeves and Winters in the Deadline report mentioned above.

“There’s certain comparisons,” stated Winter. “A rock band that never goes to the place it thought it was going to get to. Having that moment in their life of going: ‘Do we try to get there, or give up the dream?’”

“Indomitable spirits confronted with, ‘Is this the end?’” Reeves continued. “Of course, there is a little caveat in that someone comes from the future and says: ‘Not only do you have to save the world, you have to save everything.’”

As of now there are no hints as to when production will start and a tentative release date, but stay tuned to Aggressive Comix for all your Bill & Ted needs. PARTY ON, DUDES!
