Netflix that it has a release date for Lemony Snickets Series of Unfortunate Events. Not to mention it also has released it first trailer for the upcoming series. The official date is slated for Friday, January 13, 2017.

Daniel Handler (born February 28, 1970) is an American writer and journalist. He is best known for his work under the pen name Lemony Snicket, having published children’s series A Series of Unfortunate Events and All the Wrong Questions under this pseudonym. He has also published adult novels under his real name; his first book The Basic Eight was rejected by many publishers for its dark subject matter. His most recent book is We Are Pirates. Handler has also played the accordion in several bands.

Lemony Snicket is based on the internationally best-selling series of books by Daniel Handler. The show stars Neil Patrick Harris as Olaf, an evil guardian to the Baudelaire orphans — Violet, Klaus, and Sunny, who will stop at nothing to get his hands on their inheritance. The siblings must outsmart Olaf at every turn, foiling his many devious plans and disguises, in order to discover clues to their parents’ mysterious death.

The eight-episode series is a Netflix original production, executive produced by Emmy Award winner Barry Sonnenfeld and Daniel Handler, and also stars Patrick Warburton (Lemony Snicket), Joan Cusack (Justice Strauss), Malina Weissman (Violet Baudelaire) and Louis Hynes (Klaus Baudelaire).

The series premieres January 13, 2017 only on Netflix.
