The Magic School Bus will be cruising on down Main Street again!  After a highly debatable first source on this story, Ted Sarandos (chief content officer for NETFLIX) has CONFIRMED a new series based upon the original cartoon from the 90s.  This announcement comes after the news of a deal between NETFLIX and Scholastic Publishing, including what appears to be rights for development for such titles as Clifford the Big Red Dog, Goosebumps, and The Magic School Bus.

In this interview with the New York Times, Sarandos said “The Magic School Bus, the old version, is remarkably popular on Netflix. It teaches science in a way that transcends generations.”  Completely true, I must say!

The new version will include a modernized Ms. Frizzle who will take her class on flying trips on an updated bus. No news about the hopeful return of Lily Tomlin as the voice of The Friz, but we’re hopeful.  *fingers crossed for the return of Liz, too*

TMZ ran a this story detailing the return of some of the original voice cast, but there’s been no word on confirmation from Netflix.

President of Scholastic Media Deborah Forte says the young scientists will use newer scientific tools, such as robots or a smart suit worn by the character Carlos that determines his body’s vital signs instantly.

The Magic School Bus 360°  will begin showing sometime in 2016 on Netflix.
