Care for the equivalent of a film-geeks cock-tease? Now the much disputed remake of Sam Raimi’s iconic shlock comedy-horror is conforming to the suddenly current fad of trailers for their trailer. The Evil Dead remake supposedly wowed preview audiences at NYCC by actually being…dare I say…good. Of course that’s not ignoring the equally faddish trend of instantaneously despising anything that’s a retelling while damning Hollywood for its apparent unoriginality. Admittedly, for every one remake jewel there are ten tipped tombstones of their former, yet this doesn’t mean they’re inherently dismissive. The horror genre undoubtedly produces the most quality re-imaginings out there, far exceed that of any other cinema categorization. Need I remind that John Carpenters The Thing, 1986’s The Fly, 1978’s Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Bram Stokers Dracula, and choice others are predominately considered equal to or surpassing their original counterpart. Point is…superior remake is not an exclusive oxymoron. So if Bruce Campbell is endorsing the Fede Alvarez Evil Dead, are you really still not convinced? In that case, while you’re waiting for tomorrows full trailer in all its gory glory, take these into consideration:

– Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi not only publicly approve of the remake – they’re actively involved as co-producers. Raimi even also co-wrote the script.

– Director Fede Alvarez was handpicked by Raimi himself to helm the remake project.

– Lead actress Jane Levy was billed as  “the new Ash” by none other than Campbell himself; and rumor has it – he made her earn every letter of that title.
