What a fabulous turn of events for Ash Wednesday! The first big news here is that yes, STARZ series Ash Vs The Evil Dead has been picked up for a second season after pretty solid viewership and reviews.  The series of course follows hero Ash Williams from Army Of Darkness/Evil Dead and his life after that fateful weekend in a cabin.

STARZ announced today that Lee Majors (6 Million Dollar Man) will be joining the series to play Ash’s father Brock Williams, and Ted Raimi (Xena, Spiderman, Twin Peaks) will be joining as Ash’s childhood best friend Chet Kaminski.

This is pretty darn exciting as you can’t have something Evil Dead related without BOTH Raimi brothers, as director/writer/producer Sam Raimi is responsible for the original films in the series, as well as his brother Ted appearing in all 3 movies.

Ash Vs. The Evil Dead season 2 will be 10 half-hour episodes.  The cast is again led by Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Burn Notice) in the role of Ash Williams; Lucy Lawless is returning also (Salem, Spartacus) as Ruby, who now possesses the powerful Necronomicon; Ray Santiago (TouchMeet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, Ash’s loyal sidekick dealing with the trauma he suffered in the cabin; and Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell, who, grief-stricken after the death of her parents, plots revenge against The Evil Dead.

We’ll let you know when an official release date for season 2 is announced, all we know is it’ll hit sometime in 2016.  Possibly right around Halloween like season 1 did!  Groovy, baby.
