When people normally picture “geologist” they picture just people who look at rocks. What do they do, really? Are they the “dirt people” how Sheldon Cooper refers to them? Well for Geologist and students of Syracuse University geology is much more than that.

Syracuse University has been running a program called the Lava Project in which the goal is to accomplish scientific experiments, artistic creations, education, and outreach to the Syracuse University and City communities.

The latest project takes molten lava that reaches about 1300 degrees Fahrenheit,  which in under 6 minutes they managed to grill up a party’s worth of T-bones, hot dogs, and salmon steaks, and if you want it “well done” some students got their meat seared right off the lava, you know for that magma taste.
