The Big Wow! Comic Fest in San Jose California took place over the weekend of May 17th and 18th.  (My recap is here.) There were fantastic media guests, artists, and cosplayers.  One of the topics covered by panels during the weekend was bullying in it’s various myriad forms.  From “girls can’t like comics” and “boys can’t dress up” (we have an audio recording of the “Men Of Cosplay” panel we’ll post this week too), we came to the subject of  “So They Say You Shouldn’t Cosplay”.

Conceptualized by cosplay personality Ivy Doomkitty and hosted/moderated by Dave Turner,  the panel also included Nicole Marie Jean, Ivy, Joker’s Harley, Roxanna Meta, and my self.  There were topics touched on that provoked tears, personal experiences shared by the ladies in order to let the audience know that while cosplay is not ALWAYS rainbows and gummy bears, there are bright points, along with an unplanned Nike slogan theme.  JUST DO IT.
