Disney seems hell bent on bringing to life some of their most beloved animated titles.  We can say this started with Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent, and continued with Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella.  Other titles we KNOW are coming happen to be Beauty And The BeastThe Little MermaidThe Jungle Book (two versions, actually), Pinocchio, and now, Sword In The Stone.

Probably one of my most watched of the ‘classic’ era cartoons, SitS is the highly Disneyfied story of King Arthur, Merlin, and Excalibur.  This story comes to us from Variety, who say they’ve confirmed Game of Thrones writer Bryan Cogman is working on the script.

Almost nothing else is known about the film, as it is very early in the planning stages.  I’m holding out for an EPIC wizard’s dual between Merlin and Madame Mim.  We’ll let you know as things progress and casting announcements are made.
