Happy Monday Aggressors! Here I am, Taffeta Darling, with our weekly art therapy session to crush those Monday blues. This week we’re checking out artist Jim Stanley of The Dudestream. His work is incredible and you might even have a shirt designed by him. Please enjoy this spotlight on The Dudestream.

TD: For those unfamiliar with your work, please give us the details on The Dudestream.
JS: The Dudestream is an independently run art company, based out of DFW, TX, specializing and cartoons, t-shirt designs and sequential art. It’s run by me, Jim Stanley. I’ve taken the band out to a few local shows, including the Freaks & Geeks opening in Denton, TX (seriously, check them out if you’re ever in Denton) to SGC 2015. The Dudestream started about 2 years ago and we’ve been going strong ever since!

TD:  Your Handsom Jack cereal shirt did really well!  Are you working on any more TeeShirt designs?
JS: We have a few brewing in the pot right now. Couple of video games, couple of comics, original designs… Keep an eye to our TeePublic store to see more!
TD: As an artist I’ve seen you work in a variety of mediums. What do you enjoy doing the most.
JS: Out of everything I do, I’d say the thing I enjoy most is sequential art. Being inspired by comics as a child, from Berkley Breathed to Spider-Man, I’ve always enjoyed telling a story through a visual medium. And if I get an opportunity to crack a joke in there, then by all means, I will take it.  image

TD: Where do you get your inspiration from?
JS: Outside of the previously mentioned Berkley Breathed, I was inspired by Yoji Shinkawa, Mark Bagley and Jeffrey “Chamba” Cruz in my art, but truly, my art is always being inspired by new things. Any artist can tell you that we steal from EVERYBODY. So when I read a new comic and see a new way to, say, add more dimensions to my lines, I will try to find a way to incorporate that into my existing style. It’s a very high form of flattery in my eyes.

TD: Team Captain America or Iron Man, why?
JS: Oh, man, I can go in LENGTHS about this, but I’ll stick to a simple answer: Team Iron Man. Registering superhumans who can cause MASSIVE amounts of casualties/damage just makes logistical sense. Plus, Tony has Black Panther, War Machine and Spider-Man on his side, so he wins my favour immediately.
