The Walking Dead has made some interesting calls this season. The Great Glengate (is he/isn’t he), the long rumored casting of a BIG bad guy, and of course, why isn’t Carl in the house?
The Hollywood Reporter is saying Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen, Grey’s Anatomy) will be taking on the role of one of the biggest villains in modern comic book history, and we’ll be seeing Negan this season. This causes a conflict, as readers of the comics know Negan ends a fan favorite character.
During an interview last year, Andrew Lincoln commented “What struck me, that I’ve always been excited about, is we’re coming into the sixth season of this show … and it’s the medieval part of The Walking Dead comic, where you realize that there are these isolated communities but don’t really know other ones exist. But they’re all building and forming themselves with their own image. And then there’s a clash of those communities. That, to me, is really interesting and when it gets really exciting with all the action. It turns into this insane, near-apocalyptic landscape that we’ve never seen before. That is almost a reimagining and a restart for society and humanity. And that is such a rich thing to tell.”
THR goes on to say (per their source) Negam will make his first appearance on the show during the midseason finale. The episode will be directed by Greg Nicotero.
