Earlier today, rumors surfaced that TRON Lightcycle Power Run will replace Tomorrowland Speedway around Magic Kingdom’s 50th Anniversary in October 2021.

According to blogmickey, it will mirror a roller coaster of the same name which opened in Shanghai Disneyland last June.  It is a semi-enclosed steel coaster which gives riders the sensation of zooming through the grid over speeds of 60 mph, their fastest coaster yet, on their own light cycle.

This isn’t the only ride in talks of adding some shine and sparkle to the park. Leading up to the D23 Expo this weekend, Disney have filed new land permits with Orange County. Along with environmental construction could come new rides, possibly Guardians of the Galaxy and Ratatouille themed.

Tomorrowland Speedway is an original attraction of Magic Kingdom and if the rumors are true, construction could begin in the next few years, to keep on track with the upcoming 50th Anniversary.

Stay tuned for announcements all things Disney as the D23 Expo takes over Anaheim, Ca., July 14-16.
