In an unlikely choice, it would appear that former Swingers and Wedding Crashers frontman Vince Vaughn is the long awaited second leading man for season two of HBO’s hit series True Detective.
Vaughn joins Colin Farrell in the second season of the award winning series, taking over the leading roles vacated by Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey.
Deadline reports the first official ‘caseline’ of the sophomore season to read:
“Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.”
Farrell will be playing Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him. Vaughn is the career criminal, Frank Semyon, who in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner. One of the other two police officers, Paul Woodrugh, is expected to be played by Taylor Kitsch, while the third is the female lead, Ani Bezzerides.
I honestly can’t wait to see the outtakes.
