_H9C6827.DNGNational Lampoon’s Vacation is one of my favorite series of films. Clark Griswold is who I always wanted to be when I grew up. A man wanting nothing more than to make the best memories for his family… Well the movie from my childhood is now getting a sequel.

Ed Helms is playing the part of a grown up Rusty Griswold. The irony is no joke the two owners of Aggressive Comix wrote a sequel to Christmas Vacation YEARS ago which would follow the story of a grown up Russ trying to keep the traditions of his father alive.  One day if I ever re-find that script we might upload it for all you to read!

However, in this installment, Russ takes his family on a road trip to the famous Wally World. In standard Vacation tradition it seems as if all things go wrong… no shock… being a Griswold implies a glorious failure while attempting the most simple of standard family activities.

The next generation of Griswolds is at it again—and on the road for another ill-fated adventure. Following in his father’s footsteps and hoping for some much-needed family bonding, a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Helms) surprises his wife, Debbie (Christina Applegate), and their two sons with a cross-country trip back to America’s “favorite family fun park,” Walley World.

Vacation was written and directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (Horrible Bosses and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone).  Well, at least one of those two movies was good… here is hoping the film still comes on strong and makes me laugh!

Vacation will be hitting theaters July 31st.
