Artist continued profile. Let’s get a tiny bit personal:

Joel Siegel (1).
– What are your goals as an artist?:
To make everyone happy with my artwork. In truth the moments that I choose in these movies/shows/games are meant to evoke emotion and I want everyone to re-enjoy them through my work.
.
– Favourite artist/why?: Roy Lichtenstein has always been my favorite artist. I like his simplicity and yet his complexity. How he helped to define the perfect/imperfect in his art. The fact that humor played a big part in what he made is a source of inspiration for me.

.
– What do you think of Comics being made into movies?: While I can say I have been a fan of comic movies I have also not been pleased by many of them. Asking me about film is a little like opening a can of worms as I studied film in college and have a different perspective on them. Comics are already a visual medium so making them into movies is just like saving people the time of reading the comic and showing one persons’ interpretation of those comics. I do have to say I like that comic movies have opened the floodgates to more comic fans and helped to make comics bigger now than they have been in the past.
.
.
– Has reading a Comic ever changed your life? Which one/why?: Yes but not one issue in particular more like one character/series and that would be Spider-man. I have always been a huge Spidey fan and his trials and tribulations have helped me to learn that I should always be myself and not be afraid of who I am. Peter Parker’s biggest struggle was to embrace who he was and to accept his life the way it was unfolding from the decisions he had made and his obstacles were lessons to me as well. I am not by any means a science wiz but I was an outcast when I was younger for being who I was so I related to Peter easily. In other words I took solace in the fact that I could get in contact with my halftone super powered friend anytime I wanted.
.
– Where there any defining moments in your life that have influenced your artistic style?: Nothing comes to mind actually.
.
Joel Siegel (2)..
– If you could collaborate with anybody who would it be/why?:
Jhonen Vazquez (Invader Zim, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac) has always been one of my favorite artists just for his amazing style so a collaboration with him would probably be pretty fun.
.
– If someone created a Comic about your life what would they title it?: The Misadventures of Captain Joel Siege.
.
– Favourite joke: Have you ever seen a nervous tick? – It makes the whole deer shake.
.
.
.

– Favourite Comic artist of all time/why?: This is a hard question as there are sooooooooo many amazing artists out there. I would probably have to go with Mike Mignola as my favorite. I love his abstracted style. The bold colors and shape heavy images he creates are truly stunning. I get excited turning pages in Hellboy issues to see each and every different drawing with how he uses negative space to define shapes and depth in each panel making them into masterpieces.
.
– What do you prefer to snack on when creating a masterpiece?: I am not usually eating while drawing but when I do pizza is an often staple of my diet. My favorite snacks are jalapeno cheddar cheetos, and dill pickle flavored Lays potato chips. My girlfriend also likes to bake things for me like cakes and cookies and so I eat those when reading comics, watching movies, or coming up with ideas for more pieces.
.
.
– Where do you ‘draw’ your daily inspiration from?: Joel Siegel (6) My inspiration for my artwork comes from various moments in films, TV, and video games that are really emotional. Whether these emotions are laughter, fright, excitement, sadness, terror or any others they have to be important moments. My goal is for people to see my pieces and be immediately taken back to that moment in that film or game or show and feel that emotion they felt during that moment the first time they experienced it.
.
Joel Siegel (3)– What is Satans last name?: Satan has so many last names such as Rothko, Tarantino, Shyamalan, Bin Laden, Bush,Vader, MCP, etc. I mean truly Lucifer’s last names are all the ones of people you dislike or are not a fan of so use your imagination. Does he really even have a last name?
.
.

– If you could have any power from a Comic character, what would it be/why?: Spider powers like Spider-man just sound like so much fun. I really would love to climb walls and know when I am in danger.
.
– Dislikes: Basil, carrots, peaches, cottage cheese, bad drivers, rude people, posers, papercuts, my third grade teacher, public toilets, and maybe a few other things.
.
.
– What do you do when you see an endangered animal that is eating an endangered plant?: Shrug your shoulders and say “there goes the neighborhood,” then just walk away. I actually saved a toad from being eaten by a snake once in the upper peninsula of Michigan. The snake would have never gotten its jaw around this toad anyway but I separated them and the snake disappeared into the woods and the toad sat there in shock for a while.
.
Joel Siegel (4).
– If you were to wine and dine any Comic Character who would it be/why?: Hellboy without question. I would love to smoke a cigar and drink a beer with good ol’ HB. Kick back with him for a night of just being men. I mean go out and smash up a few supernatural bad guys and then come back to the B.P.R.D. and knock a few brews back while smoking a fine Cuban cigar and talking about old times with the prince of the apocalypse.
.
– Likes: Star Wars, Zelda, pirates, zombies, robots, video games, anime, cartoons, drawing, classic rock, Iron Maiden, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Bears. Hellboy, Spider-man, the Goon, Ender’s Game, and so much more…
.
– Any thank you’s/shoutouts?: My family for their support and love especially my parents and my sister, my girlfriend Katie for her love and support, and her family too, and my fans and friends past/current/future for their interest and devotion..
