Deadpool was a surprise (ok not to us, but certainly for the studio) success, blending the tongue in cheek humor of the comics with modern CGI awesomeness. Ryan Reynolds became synonymous with the character, and audiences the world over fell in love with the Merc with a Mouth.
Despite some issues with the forthcoming sequel (the first film’s director not returning, changes in the writers room, apparent disagreements with the script between the studio and Reynolds) everything seems to be moving forward. At least forward enough to officially announce the casting of another notable character in the Marvel mutant-verse.
Ryan Reynolds tweeted today that Atlanta star Zazie Beetz will be sliding into the role of badass Domino:

We’re pretty excited to see the casting directors take this direction with the character, Zazie is a new and interesting choice. We’re super excited to see how she does in the role!
The fan-favorite character actually debuted in the same issue as Deadpool himself (1991’s New Mutants No. 98). She is another survivor of a government program to create the ultimate soldier. Instead of adamantium claws or hyper-active healing powers, she can affect probability itself, creating “good luck” for herself and those around her. Which is actually an ability she used while running around with Cable, long rumored to be appearing in Deadpool 2 but has yet to be cast.
David Leitch (John Wick) will be directing Deadpool 2. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are returning to write the script for the Fox superhero film, and Drew Goddard (The Martian) is lending his pen too.
Deadpool 2 is set to theoretically release sometime in 2018-2019.
