Simulated sword fighting is the core of our soul at Calimacil. In the last decade, we have created the most advanced foam gear in the world for live action role play (LARP).
From that experience, we decided to push the limits of design by creating the most iconic sword of all: the lightsaber.
The challenge was to build a lightsaber made of foam for safe play. To integrate light, we had to enhance the foam formula we normally use to build our products. Moreover, we had to develop a new technology into the handle to enable both light and sound. Thus our journey began, and we successfully achieved the creation of a fully immersive foam lightsaber!
This lightsaber is made of our special foam and is completely safe for dueling. We integrated advanced technology to enable the possibility to change light effects, sounds, and more.

Realistic Design
We’ve been working hard these past ten years to perfect the casting process of very realistic molds using fine materials and professional paint. We guarantee the effect is completely stunning. But even more, the lighting technology we use creates an effect that immerses you. You will have the feeling of holding the light!
Customization
The lightsaber can communicate with a smartphone through Bluetooth. With that communication enabled, you will be able to customize the light effects of the blade. Multiple choices of colors are available: red, blue, green, orange and more. Even more, you can create various visual plasma effects on the blade.
Immersive Sound Effects
The Master version of our lightsaber completes the immersion with a precise movement detection, which is used to adjust the sound effects. We built algorithms that can detect and discern between hits and swings, and even lock in position. This means if you swing the lightsaber, it will never create the “hit” sound until you really hit a physical object. Even more, if you stay still on a physical object, the sound effect will blaze like an electroshock.

Extras
The basic version of the lightsaber includes an external battery charger. With the advanced and master lightsaber, you will be able to charge the lightsaber directly with USB. Finally the Master handle has an integrated belt clip for easy transportation.

Handles
This handle is an exclusive handle design for Kickstarter. You can choose between three types of handle (Basic, Advanced & Master). Here are their different features:
This Basic handle is built with simple electronics. A simple on/off switch lights up mono-colored blades. The battery charger is external.
This Advanced handle is built with more complex electronics. Both mono-colored and RGB blades can be used. In addition, a Bluetooth connection makes it possible to use the new Calimacil Mobile app to control colors, patterns and intensity of the blade.

Risks and challenges
The challenge we are facing is to get a certain quantity of lightsabers to produce to be able to place a large order for some parts. We also set our shipping dates to allow for any unforeseen production delays, so you should get your rewards on time or even ahead of schedule.
