Studio NetherRealm announced the followup to their hit DC Comics inspired game title, Injustice: Gods Among Us, titled (at this point) Injustice 2.  When the first game was released back in 2013, it was HUGELY popular, and this new entry to what looks to be a series hopefully won’t disappoint.

When last we saw them, Superman was imprisoned in a Red Sun prison cell, while Batman was continuing the good fight against the forces that would see Superman’s tyranny back in power.  Will this be the conclusion or merely another chapter in the story?

This ‘Announcement’ trailer:

Build and power up the ultimate version of your favorite DC legends in INJUSTICE 2. With a massive selection of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains, INJUSTICE 2 allows you to personalize iconic DC characters with unique and powerful gear.  In this Gear System,  players will be able to build their own version of Superman, of Batman and ultimately, their Injustice Universe. Take control over how your favorite characters look, how they fight, and how they develop across a huge variety of game modes. This is your Legend. Your Journey. Your Injustice.

Community specialist for NetherRealm Tyler Lansdown wrote up this announcement post over on the Playstation Network official blog, stating pretty much everything early press releases for the game say.

Not only do we get to see Superman and Flash fighting, but SUPERGIRL and Aquaman?  That fight is pretty spectacular, and I have to say I’m looking forward to losing more hours of my life to this game.

The official word is that Injustice 2 is coming to PS4 sometime in 2017.  I assume we’ll be hearing more about this title during E3 next week.
