Just like the title says, Dan Aykroyd thinks Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot could be slightly better than the original two films. Before I comment on that, I’ll just highlight the quote from Entertainment Weekly:
Paul’s kind of the George Cukor of Hollywood: He has a great touch directing female actors and he really knows how to hit the female psyche and sensibility. In a way, his movie might be a little better than the first two because they can do more – CGI might be a little better. But also, you know, there might be more jokes in it. I’m really happy with what I’m seeing.
I’m going to stop you right there Mr. Aykroyd because the original Ghostbusters was a perfect film. You can’t make something better than perfect so it’s literally impossible for the reboot to be better. Different, yes and maybe better than the sequel but you can’t trump perfection.
It should be noted that Aykroyd and original director Ivan Reitman are producers so they are invested in making sure this film is successful. It should also be noted that Aykroyd believes aliens visit Earth regularly, don’t reveal themselves to us because of the events of 911, and that they should be arrested because they are in violation of Title 18, Section 1201, Paragraph A of the United States Code. Comparitively, thinking the new Ghostbusters can be better than the original no longer sounds like one of the craziest things he’s ever said.
