It’s another Monday and we’re here to make it less mundane with this week’s artist spotlight. From Dallas, Texas we’re getting to know the majesty of Gorgon Dreams, that is Lhars Ebersold. Not only is Lhars an incredibly talented painter, but she also sculpts and works with wood burnings. Check out the interview below and don’t forget to check out her Etsy store and Facebook page!
g up in a family of professional artists, I’ve seen all the struggles that artists go through to achieve trying to make a living off of their passion. So I’ve made it a mission to continuously to move forward in the industry, and also help educate and support family and loved ones pursuing the same path, in hopes they will never have to go through some of the same struggles.

TD:Describe a real-life situation that inspired you?
LE: A little over a year ago I had a hands on experience trying to help someone I was in love with care take for their father fighting through cancer. Some nights were harder than others, the treatments at time were rough, emotions from all parties were out the roof, and for once in my life I couldn’t draw. I literally couldn’t put anything down pen, paper, or paint. I was stumped and finding my counter balance was nearly impossible. So I tried something new, sculpting. Had no idea what I was doing…. but I was creating… none stop. And for the next 3-4 months I did nothing but sculpt and turned out to be an undiscovered niche.

TD:What is your dream project?
LE:Oh man, dream project would be to get to at least be involved in a concept team for at least one Disney production and carry on my great Grandfather’s (Hank Porter) legacy.

TD:Professionally, what’s your goal?
LE:My goal is to bring life to peoples days, like art brings to mine. We all have bad days, dark times, and struggles that sometime leave us in a state of confusion. Art can help a person break away, even if for a moment. Whether the colors bring you life, the image is a story you can relate to, or something to fuel ones imagination. I want to make my mark bringing others happiness.

TD:What work do you most enjoying doing?
LE:Recently sculpting has become my favorite, and hopefully getting into 3d program work soon as well.
LE:All but country. lol, but seriously I listen to everything from trance, soundtracks, punk… and days where I’m stumped and have a “artist block” I’ll retort to classic rock. Growing up, my mother would paint 11-am- 5pm… during those hours she’d always have the radio turned up playing classic rock, and I’d be right there by her side coloring, reading, causing mischief. It’s my go to, when needed.
